Dr. Jonathan Weir became the Purple Claw, after being given the magic claw by a native tribe in the heart of Africa in 1943 when the US Army Medical corps crashed landed there. The claw gives him super-strength.
He used the claw to fight crime for over ten years. His enemies included Countess Arachni and Baron Latro.
