The woman who would become Red Ann was happily married to a man called Bart . Ann's friend Trent had also loved her but she chose Bart over him. Trent responded graciously by buying them tickets for their honeymoon. But Ann's husband was killed before her eyes by gangsters working for the master criminal known as the Voice. Ann swore to kill the Voice just as he had killed her husband. Turning her back on her friends and family, including Trent, she taught herself to shoot and learned the ways of the underworld, becoming a masked vigilante.

As a crimefighter Red Ann outdid the Black Terror and Tim themselves, beating them to the punch several times against the Voice's men. He finally caught up with her together with reporter Dick Reagan and convinced her to tell them her origin. They joined together to attack the Voice's headquarters in an abandoned mansion. Dick had become strongly attracted to Ann, who appreciated his attentions, but decided the battle was too dangerous for him and knocked him out.

The Voice trapped the Terror and Tim in "Plasto-Spheres." Red Ann came to their rescue, but the Voice ran away before she could fight him. When they caught up with the Voice they found he was none other than Trent, who had killed Bart as he had killed anyone else who got in his way. Red Ann found she could not bring herself to kill her old friend and turned her back on crimefighting, where Dick was more than happy to accompany her.

  • The Nedor comics were renewed by Popular Library, which was eventually bought out by Fawcett Books. When Fawcett went out of business, Popular Library was sold to Warner Bros. A number of different publishers, however, are currently/have been using these characters without any lawsuits from Warner Bros., so any action over them is (probably) unlikely. They are still, however, "use at your own risk" characters.
