Origin[]
Rusty is a hardworking little yellow engine that works on a railroad carrying loads of wheat. He also knows all the trees along the track which leads him to be lonesome due to being the only engine for eight years on the line. He arrives to an anthropomorphic grain loader where Rusty laments about being the only train on the railroad. The grain loader tells him that he is not the only train and shows him a switch to the mainline which rusty sneaks out and heads to the big city meeting a blue car and a pompous engine. When he arrives at the terminal, nobody notices him except for a police engine that barks at him for hanging around the area. As he sadly returns home, the trees welcome him back with one tree telling him that they brought another engine to help rusty with the work. Rusty and the new engine eventually become great friends with each other.
