Origin[]
The Serious Cow is a red cow resembling the Laughing Cow with a stern, stoic expression.
Notes[]
- The Serious Cow was designed as a response to The Laughing Cow, positioning the brand as a "cheese found in serious homes" - Laughing Cow manufacturers Bel Group responded by releasing an advert proudly proclaiming "laughter is the characteristic of man ... and of the laughing cow", to which the Grosjean Brothers responded "laughter is the characteristic of man, the seriousness of the cow". Eventually, a lawsuit would be enacted in the 1950s, forcing the Serious Cow to be renamed "The Grosjean Cow" and be recolored yellow.
