Smiler was a small time crook and gang leader, whose face has a scar that warps it into a perpetual grin. He ended up working for a Nazi agent called Blitz.
Blitz hired Smiler to retrieve an invention wanted by the Third Reich. So, Smiler and his gang kidnap the inventor and secure the item, but they are stopped by Captain Fight. After his second encounter with Captain Fight, Smiler was sent to Alcatraz.
