Origin[]
Harvey Twisto was part of a traveling circus show. When he found out his wife was having an affair with Sampson the Strong Man, he tried to strangle him. Bella came to Sampson's rescue by hitting her husband over the head with a dumbbell. Upset, Sampson left, but told his assistant, Jocko, to help the passed out Twisto by giving him some water. Twisto came to, and hurried on stage for his performance. When he contorted his rubber bones in the shape of a snail, he remained petrified. It was revealed that Sampson had poisoned the water earlier which caused Twisto's body to remain in the twisted grotesque form.
During this ghastly performance, Bob Dickering was in the audience, and later overheard Twisto vow revenge to his wife and her lover. Bob, as the Hangman, followed Twisto home to discover the two lovers bound up and suffering a "slow" (being he is a Snail) death. Twisto lit a fuse to blow up his own home. The Hangman was able to rescue Bella, but not Sampson or Twisto.
