Sooty is a mute yellow male bear, and the protagonist of the show alongside its human presenters. The show introduced his trademark traits of tapping a surface to whisper into the presenter's ear what he wishes to say, owning a magic wand, the use of his magic words "Izzy wizzy, let's get busy!", and his fondness for using a water pistol.The character was cheeky and naughty, fond of playing practical jokes, but was also kind-hearted and good.

  • Sooty was released in 1955 as a live television broadcast, which were not eligible for copyright in his home country of the United Kingdom until 1957. Because it was already public domain in it's source country, it never was restored in the United States by the URAA. As it was one of such works that weren't eligible for copyright restoration due to being already public domain in it's source country at the time.
