Squeeks the monkey belonged to an abusive organ grinder until he was purchased for $25 by Chuck Chandler who had come across the monkey's plight while awaiting news about the results from his father's surgery.
The pair were inseparable for several years with the clever and courageous Squeeks assisting Chuck solve numerous crimes over the years, even saving Chuck’s life on several occasions such as from the villainous Iron Jaw.
After beginning to attend college at Curtis Tech, Chuck still solved some crimes in his free time, but his life started to increasingly revolve around Curtis Tech and the friends that he made there. He and his roommate, Stew, became best friends, while Squeeks was gradually pushed into the background.
In 1953, Squeeks was given his own funny animal spin-off comic book which featured a new cast of animal characters such as his rival Tiger Tom.
