As far as I know, this version of Black Bat never appeared in comics, past or present. Should we really be including him? (after all, we agreed to only include literary characters that went on to appear in comic books (Golden Age or otherwise) --Strannik01 18:44, May 12, 2010 (UTC)

  • I feel like we should include pulp characters because pulps were the birth place of many of the archetypes we see later in comics. Plus he was published by Thrilling which was later a comic book company. Crimsoncrusader 20:48, May 12, 2010 (UTC)
  • According to our front page "Public Domain Super Heroes is a collaborative website about comic book characters in the Public Domain." The original version of Black Bat was not a comic book character nor did he ever become a comic book character. Under the current parameters, he doesn't fit. --Strannik01 21:24, May 12, 2010 (UTC)
Our front page has changed to reflect a more open policy that gives comic book creators more public domain resources while still staying true to our mission statement. Crimsoncrusader 21:39, May 12, 2010 (UTC)
Wait. I protest. Policy changes like this should not be decided unilaterally. At the very least, we should put it to a vote. --Strannik01 22:07, May 12, 2010 (UTC)
:::: Your welcome to open it to a vote, but the site already has pages that fit the parameters set in the state on the home page. For example, we have 11 pulp characters, 5 film serial characters, 19 literary characters, 8 newspaper strip characters, 18 mythological characters, and at least 6 movie characters. So, we already have characters who've appeared in other media on the site. I say as long as their public domain and relevant to comics its cool. Crimsoncrusader 01:22, May 13, 2010 (UTC)
Yes. It isn't the state of affairs I am happy with, but the majority has agreed to include non-comic characters so long as they appeared in comics at some point between the beginning of the medium and the present, and I respect the will of the majority. I do take issues with characters that never appeared in comics at all, since it makes the wiki stray even further from it's core purpose than it already has. But, if the majority disagrees with me, than that's just something I'll have to accept. --Strannik01 01:29, May 13, 2010 (UTC)
And second thought, we do have Commando Cody, don't we? I forgot about him. He really should be purged under the current majority consensus, but, since I'm trying not to be too deletion-happy, I'm going to hold off on that until the vote is finished. --Strannik01 01:47, May 13, 2010 (UTC)

Also vote currently stands 7 yes, 6 No, and 1 Maybe.
