Origin[]
Full ad from Judge Magazine (April 1938).
The Tufted Gustard is a rare creature that Dr. Suess brought from the Bobo Isles.
Few big game hunters have ever been fortunate enough to catch a glimpse of a Gustard, let alone bag one. For the first forty years of his life, his tuft is in the awkward stage and the Gustard is embarrassed.
He hides, blushing furiously, in the densest whortleberry thickets, and does not emerge until late middle life when his tuft, at last, breaks into full bloom.
Notes[]
- The original Judge magazine advert of for the Tufted Gustard was never renewed. Neither the 1965 Copyright Records nor the 1966 Copyright Records contain any renewal for the advert and the magazine issue.
