Origin[]

Wiggily Longears is an engaging elderly rabbit lame from rheumatism. Wherever he goes, he always relies on a red, white, and blue crutch—described as being "striped like a barber-pole", or, in later episodes, "his candy-striped walking cane", with spiral red and white striping like a peppermint candy stick.

He is regularly seen with young nephew and niece, Sammie and Susie Littletail, and his muskrat housekeeper, Nurse Jane Fuzzy Wuzzy, and the large assortment of other anthropomorphic animals that occupy his neighborhood. Uncle Wiggily regularly helps these friends out of some kind of predicament.

Wiggily also has a sizable rogues gallery, including Pipsisewah and Skeezicks, an unsavory duo of bullies who engage in mischief and always requiring appropriate "handling" by Uncle Wiggily - often with the aid of his family and friends. Other adversaries like Woozy Wolf, Bushy Bear, Skillery Skallery Alligator, and the fierce Bobcat appear less frequently. All seem bent on consuming Uncle Wiggily, but he always escapes, generally with the aid of some new implement he just purchased at the store.
