Princess Valya is the daughter King Stephan, ruler of the planet Sirion. While the king battles an alien invasion in the distant reaches of space, her uncle, Karnock, attempts to marry her off to a brutish nobleman named Ulgar. The marriage is intended to give Karnock the throne and usurp King Stephan.
When word of Karnock's brutal regime reaches King Stephan, the king sends Space Admiral Jon Lasim to find out the truth of the matter. Lasim falls in love with Valya, but he becomes a hunted man under Karnock's regime.
