Origin[]
Inventor Jason Burke created a large, humanoid robot in his sister's basement. Burke felt that his creation could be incredibly beneficial to mankind, but its monstrous appearance caused people to distrust and fear it. Public outcry caused the robot to become outlawed, much to Burke's chagrin. A short while later, X-13 ran amok through the town, just as everyone had feared. The robot made his way to a local missile base, leaving a trail of destruction in his wake. There he boarded a rocket and launched himself out over the sea. X-13's plan worked exactly as he envisioned as the military activated the rocket's self-destruct sequence. When the missile exploded, the townspeople believed the threat to have been ended. X-13, however, was impervious to the missile's explosion and he plummeted into the ocean below. A short time later Burke found a note from his creation, explaining his plan and saying that he would remain at the bottom of the sea until such a time when humanity had learned tolerance and acceptance of those different from themselves. Burke was concerned that the seawater would cause X-13's delicate instruments to rust and, if that happened, that he might return to truly menace mankind in the future.
